One of the most important steps in preparing for the season is our Skills Evaluation Days. Please note that this is not a tryout—there are no cuts, and every player will be placed on a team. The purpose of the evaluation is to help create evenly matched teams, which is one of the core goals of Junior Comet Sports.
Here’s how it works:
Skills Evaluation Dates (attend ONE):
👉 It is VERY important that your child attend one or our Skills Days. This ensures that we are able to create balanced teams. If a player cannot attend an evaluation, they will still be placed on a team. However, instead of being drafted by a coach, they will be alphabetically assigned to a team after the draft.
Parent Requests: If you have any requests - days you cannot practice, siblings in different levels playing on the same team, etc. - you must tell a board member at check-in on Skills Eval Day. It is very difficult to make changes after teams are created and late requests may not be honored. For more information about parent requests, please visit our 'Information & Registration' page.
Coach’s Kid(s) on Skills Evaluation Day:
A coach’s child must turn in a completed skills evaluation card. They will be drafted to the parent’s team in whichever round their scores place them into. Failure to do so will result in that player becoming a 1st round pick.
Here’s how it works:
- Players rotate through five skill stations.
- Each player receives scores at the stations.
- If a player is unsatisfied with any of their scores, they can run through any or all of the drills a second time. They will have to get back in line for their second turn.
- Scores are then used in our team draft to build balanced teams across the league.
